Flagship case · BPCL · Indian Railways
Automating locomotive fuelling across 6 BPCL rail depots.
We have developed industrial automation software - a hardware-integrated fuelling-automation system that dispenses, meters and reconciles diesel for locomotives - over 200M litres fuelled, live in production since 2021 across six depots.
Two international airports
Airport power, monitored in real time.
Power-monitoring SCADA software live at two international airports - Navi Mumbai and Bhogapuram - keeping critical power infrastructure under continuous real-time watch, where an outage is not an option.

Silex delivers the industrial automation and SCADA software layer for hardware-integrated environments. Our solutions connect field instrumentation and control systems with monitoring, automation, and operational software. This integrated approach powers solutions for BPCL, Indian Railways, and the Navi Mumbai and Bhogapuram airports.

- Bhogapuram AirportCritical power
Why this matters
Our single strongest trust signal.
Whatever you're building - a distributor portal, a rental platform, a retail chain - this is the proof that Silex can be trusted with what matters. If our software is trusted to run an airport's power and a railway's fuelling, it can be trusted with your business.
Three ways to work with Silex
Do you run the site, build the equipment - or integrate both?
Choose your path and we'll show you what matters most to you.
See what your operation is actually doing, live
Manual rounds and isolated panels tell you what happened. A monitoring SCADA software layer over your existing plant hardware tells you what is happening - on one screen, with alarms the moment something drifts, and a record you can review after the fact.
- One operator view - valves, pumps, power and gas on a single live screen.
- Alarms and audit trail - state changes recorded for incident review.
- Reads your existing plant - PLC and Modbus, no rip-and-replace.
Ship your equipment with industrial software worth using
The hardware is yours; the interface decides whether anyone enjoys operating it. We build the operator panels, mobile apps and dashboards that sit on top of it - talking to your devices directly, on the plant floor or in the field.
- Operator panels - an Android HMI already runs a BPCL blending plant.
- Cross-platform apps - one Flutter build for Android and iOS.
- Straight to the device - Modbus TCP on the local network, no cloud required.
- Your brand on it - built for your equipment, shipped under your name.
Bring us the industrial software layer
You supply the instrumentation, the panels and the field integration. We build the SCADA, the dashboards and the reporting that sit above them - and stay on to support it. It is exactly how Silex and Spectrum Technology have delivered for BPCL, Indian Railways and two international airports.
- A software partner, not a competitor - we do not sell hardware.
- Proven at national scale - oil and gas, railways and aviation, in production.
- We stay on - the same senior team supports what it builds.
- Your client relationship stays yours - we work behind your delivery.
Questions
Mission-critical, answered.
What is industrial automation software?
Industrial automation software sits between your plant and the people running it. It reads the PLCs, meters and field devices, puts what they are doing on a screen, and keeps the record. Without it you are walking rounds and reading panels that don't talk to each other. Ours meters and reconciles diesel across six BPCL rail depots and watches power at two international airports.
What is SCADA software?
SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. In practice it means one screen that pulls live readings off equipment across a site, or across a dozen sites, so an operator can see a problem and do something about it. Alarms and history come with it, because after an incident someone always asks what the valve was doing at 3am. We build ours as web SCADA, reading existing hardware over PLC and Modbus.
What is the difference between SCADA software, HMI and a PLC?
The PLC does the controlling. It is wired to the equipment, runs the logic, and has no opinion about who is watching. The HMI is the panel at the machine, for whoever is standing in front of it. SCADA is what you add once one screen at one machine stops being enough: many PLCs, several sites, and history you can go back through. Most plants end up running all three.
How much does custom industrial automation software cost?
There is no list price. What moves the number is how many sites it has to cover and how many kinds of device it has to read. One plant on a single PLC family is a small piece of work. Six depots with metering, reconciliation and reporting is not. We quote after a free assessment, once we have seen the sites and the protocols, and you don't pay per seat afterwards.
Should we buy off-the-shelf SCADA software or have it built?
Buy off the shelf if your process looks like everyone else's and you want to be running next quarter. Have it built when it doesn't. Fuelling reconciliation, blending logic, an ESD sequence written for your site: those are the things packaged SCADA makes you work around. The other reason people build is the shape of the cost. Licence fees that grow with every tag and every client keep growing. A build doesn't.
What protocols does SCADA software need to support?
Whatever the plant already speaks. Our SCADA software talks to field devices over PLC and Modbus, including Modbus TCP on the local network with no cloud involved, and drives web SCADA and HMI dashboards on top of them. Where kit has to report from somewhere nobody is standing, we connect it as an internet of things device feeding the same dashboards. You shouldn't have to replace working hardware to put better software on it.
How long does a SCADA software project take to go live?
We study your scope first and come back with an estimate. For a first site that is usually about a month. It goes live, runs, and the next one follows once it has settled. BPCL fuelling started in 2021 and reached six depots that way. Navi Mumbai and Bhogapuram airports went the same route. How long the whole programme runs comes down to how many sites you have and what we are integrating with, which is what the free assessment is for.
Can industrial software handle fire, gas and emergency shutdown monitoring?
On a hazardous site that is most of the job. Fire, gas and emergency shutdown have to sit alongside ordinary process monitoring, refresh fast enough to be worth looking at, and log every state change for the incident review afterwards. We run this at the BPCL Jhansi LPG terminal as web SCADA and HMI, at roughly one-second refresh.
Is SCADA part of the industrial internet of things?
It is. The industrial internet of things is the wider idea: equipment that reports over a network instead of waiting for somebody to walk up to it. SCADA is one form of that, the form built for a plant and a control room, with supervisory control sitting on top of the readings. So if you already run SCADA you are already doing this, just inside one fence. The rest of it is the same job over longer distances. We built a solar operator a mobile app that reads inverters over Modbus and lets them act on what it finds, and that approach suits depots, substations and anything too far away to visit daily.
Do we own the industrial software if you develop it for us?
You do. The code, the data and the hosting are yours, with no per-seat licensing sitting on top. The team that writes it stays on to run it, which is the part most people care about more. Software is all we do, so if you already have an integrator or your own panel builders, we work behind them and the client relationship stays yours.
